Why We Left

3 One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” 4 When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
“Here I am!” Moses replied.

After 11 years serving at our church, we knew we were done.

This wasn't a call towards something, rather a call to get up and move away from something.

Three years ago Karen and I began a conversation about investing in ministry happening apart from 'this' church, something caught our attention but we weren't sure what it was.  This year we were in a great place, truthfully it was one of the most exciting years of Youth Ministry we have seen in this community.  We could have stayed with our flock and continued to care for them as we have, but something was fascinating us, so we got up and moved towards it.

The truth is, we're still not sure what this thing is.

I'm not even sure if I'm standing in front of it yet.

We're so thankful for our time and ministry at Springvale. The support from the congregation and leadership staff there throughout this journey has been incredible.  This is not only our story, it is your story as well.  Our prayer is that our experience can give others courage to do the same - to get up from what is comfortable and move towards something fascinating even if you aren't sure what it is.  I hope you have the faith to say yes to God before he even he asks a question.

Here I am.
